I'm grateful that I was able to turn these tragedies into something positive and meaningful.

“When I was a senior in high school, my best friend was in a car accident. She survived, but in a vegetative state. That same year, my mom died from cancer and my grandmother died. So I earned my nursing degree because I wanted to take care of people. Later, after I married, I had an opportunity to buy an adult family home—a small nursing home. We took our life savings and part of our retirement fund and bought the home, and now my friend is one of the residents. I feel that I’ve found my purpose and that I’m doing exactly what I was put on this earth to do.”
